Dit heb ik van onze Cruisedirector Daniëlle gekregen en ik wilde het jullie niet onthouden, vond het erg leuk!!
The Cruise Prayer:
“Our heavenly father, look down on us, your humble obedient servants, who are doomed to travel this earth, taking photographs, mailing postcards and walking around in shorts.
We beseech thee, oh Lord, to see that our plane is not delayed, our luggage not lost and that our overweight baggage goes unnoticed.
Protect us from unscrupulous taxidrviers, avaricious porters and unlicensed English speaking guides.
Give us this day, divine guidance in the selection of our hotels, that we may find our reservations honoured, our rooms made up and hot water coming from the taps.
We pray that the telephone works, that the internet is fast and that the operators somewhere speak English, that there is no mail waiting for us from loved ones who need money.
Lead us, dear Lord, to good, inexpensive restaurants, where the food is superb, the waiters are friendly and the wine included in the price of the meal.
We pray that the water in the rivers will not be high or low, that the locks are not frozen and that the lock keepers are awake and not on strike.
Give us the strength to visit the museums, the cathedrals, the palaces and the castles listed as “must see” in the guidebooks. And if per chance we take a nap after lunch or skip a historical monument, miss an anouncement, miss the port talk or onboard entertainment, have mercy on us, for our flesh is weak.
For the husbands: Please God, keep our wives from spending sprees and protect them from bargains they do not need, nor can afford. Lead them not into temptation for they don’t know what they’re doing.
For the wives: Almighty Father, keep our husbands from looking at foreign women and comparing them to us. Save them from making a fool of themselves in cafes and in night clubs. Above all, do not forgive them their trespasses, for they know exactly what they’re doing.
And when our travels are over, and we return to our loved ones, please grant us the favor that someone will look at our videos, our 2000 digital photo’s and listen to our stories, so that our lives as tourists will not have been in vain.”
Groetjes,
Linda
